A new tutorial for the new year

January 3, 2010

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I decided to take a little time off to relax so you haven’t heard too much from me lately, but I also did some computer upgrading during that time, including lots of new memory (fabulous!) an upgrade to Window 7 (working good so far) and upgrading my Photoshop Elements to version 8.

I decided to start off the new year with a new tutorial; this one shows you how to quickly add a border to your photos. You can make the border white to look like the border the photo labs put on your photos, or a color to look like your photo is matted on colored cardstock.

The YouTube version of the movie is below, or you can click here to download a high resolution version. Enjoy!

Video Tutorial – Digital Stitching

April 22, 2009

If you’ve downloaded or purchased any of my Page in a Pinch templates, you’ve probably noticed that many of them come with a stitching layer. If you have premade stitching that works, that’s great, but what if you don’t? This new video tutorial will teach you how to turn the stitching template layer into realistic looking stitching, in whatever color you need, using PhotoShop Elements. You can watch the YouTube version below, or click here to download a high resolution version.

I also wanted to share the page I made while recording this tutorial, starring our new kitten Bandit.

New Video Tutorial – Wrapping Ribbon around Digital Elements

January 13, 2009

Yes, there’s finally a new tutorial up.  But a couple of announcements first:

  1. If you missed the screaming deal on the huge Home for the Holidays bundle on Friday, it’s not too late.  The entire bundle will still be marked down to $3.50 for the month of January, at both my Divine Digital and ScrapDish stores.  So if you’re still looking for the perfect kit to scrap your holiday photos, this is it!
  2. ScrapDish now has a forum!  Pop in for a visit, and maybe stay to check out a challenge or two!  Each challenge you complete earns you points which go towards percent off coupons for that month.  I’m hosting the Photography / Photo Editing challenge, you can read all about the January challenge here.

And now for the video tutorial.  This tutorial, done in Photoshop Elements 6, shows you how to realistically wrap ribbon around any digital embellishment.  You can watch the YouTube version below, or click here to download the high resolution video.  The video is a Quicktime movie, so you will need Quicktime in order to watch it.  Enjoy!

Video Tutorial – Creating Ghostly Images

September 28, 2008

I saw this idea in the latest issue of Creating Keepsakes, and with Halloween fast approaching, I thought it would be a fun video tutorial to offer.  The two photos below are what I started with, the video tutorial walks you through creating the effect in PhotoShop Elements 6, and the last image shows you my final “ghostly” photograph, after a bit more post-processing was done (actions by Pioneer Woman and texture overlay by Christian Odell) and a photo frame added.  Have fun creating your own family ghost!
